Noted Oklahoma jazz and blues singer Lacy Saunders leads a troupe of all-star musicians in Jazz In June’s open blues jam this Friday, May 13th in conjunction with the Norman Arts Council’s 2nd Friday Arts Walk.

Jazz In June invites ‘bluesicians’ of all levels to join our host band and take part in our free, public blues jam at Puebla Tacos Y Tequileria (305 E. Main St. in downtown Norman, OK). Lacy Saunders and friends will set things in motion beginning at 6 p.m. with individual jammers filtering in throughout the evening. The jam concludes at 9:30 p.m.

Zac Lee Quintet

Resident jazz trombonist and bandleader Zac Lee leads the 2016 Jazz In June jazz jam on Friday, June 10th from 6-9:30 p.m.

This year’s jazz jam occurs in conjunction with the Norman Arts Council’s 2nd Friday Art Walk and takes place at Norman’s historic Santa Fe Depot (200 S. Jones in downtown Norman, OK). Aspiring and professional jazz musicians are invited to bring instruments and participate in this free, public event.

“USAF Airmen of Note: Glenn Miller’s Legacy & the Elements of Big Band Orchestration”

Members of the U.S. Air Force’s premier big band illustrate the history and significance of the so-called ‘Big Band Era’. The group will also highlight the various  elements that make up a big band.

“MUED OUtreach: Children’s Foundations of Music (for ages 4-10)”

MUED OUtreach student instructors offer children ages 4-10 a hands-on approach to music and music-making. Children will participate in an introduction to music theory in ways that will tap into their abilities, curiosity and creativity. This fun-filled event is the perfect introduction to music for any child.
